Preview on external monitor problem.

When I enter external monitor mode and press spacebar to play project. I'm unable to return to the workspace. I've tried pressing Alt+Shift+4 and Esc as in Vegas 10 but nothing happens. My only recourse is to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
All preferences are at default. OS is Vista sp2.
Is there anything I can do to correct this problem?

Have you tried just toggling off the Preview On External Monitor button (the little TV icon on the upper left of the Preview window next to Project Video Properties)?

Yes I have but it doesn't make any difference. It works fine as long as I don't play the project but once It plays; Game Over!
I just wonder If there's anyone else with this problem or perhaps there are issues with Vista.
