Can you see the little floopy disk icon and the "Copy to Timeline" icon - sits above the Preview window - yes? As you say, it's a drop down menu - Best - Good - Preview - Draft - yes? If you can't see the "little floopy disk icon and the "Copy to Timeline" icon " then you've got problems - mmm....

Grazie - I've got the icons but no drop down menu. Looks like I've got problems!

...that is interesting as i also was wondering about the preview window quality.

Ian, Try adjusting the horizontal width of the preview window. If I make mine small enough horizontally, the drop down menu disappears but the disk icon and clipboard icon remains. When I drag it larger horizontally, the drop down menu reappears. It’s worth a try.

I pretty sure they removed the drop down quality menu in Video Factory 2. Why? Probably for the same weird reason they removed the trimmer and scrubber from Video Factory 1.

Of course, you can bring all those things back by messing with settings in the mysterious (and hidden) "Internal" preference tab. To access the "Internal" tab, hold down shift when selecting the "Preferences" tab.

Setting "Show Advanced Features" to true will bring back the drop down preview quality box.
Setting "Show Speed Control" to true will bring back the scrubber.
Setting "Show Trimmer" to true will, well, you know ;)

I recommend you don't mess with any other settings. You can set all settings back to default by setting "Reset all setting to default" to true.

DISCLAIMER: Mess with these settings at your own peril. They are undocumented, unsupported settings. So if something goes wrong, don't hold Sonic Foundry (or me) responsible.

Ian - JR is correct - I've just reminded myself of it and tested.

If I have the Preview Window "adjusted" to about 1" x 1" [that is on my screen resolution of 1400x1050], I can have the Drop Menu disappear. In which case the Preview looks very small. Hmmmmmm .. . . What do you have your screen resolution set at? Now, if you have your screen resolution set at something less than that, say 800x600 your Preview Window will completely disappear all together! If you don't and have the actually Preview Window Pane available, try to "expand" the Preview window pane by pulling the Audio Preview window to the Left - see the double headed arrow appear when you "rest" your cursor over the vertical separation bar between Audio Preview and the Media, Trimmer, Fx etc, etc Managment Windows? Hold down the Left mouse button and drag Left - you should see the Preview window Pane get bigger AND the space above the Preview window pane increase AND then you should see the Drop Down Menu reappear - yes?

Folks, thanks for all the advice, it's greatly appreciated!

Discdude wins this weeks star prize - changing "Show Advanced Features" to "True" brought it back.

Cheers
