Preview speed substantially improved in V9

Just did a test:

In 8.0c one part of a project here used to preview at down to 4,3 Fps

In 9.0 it previews at "down" to 25 Fps...

What a great improvement!

This is using the same settings in 8.0c and 9.0 - and NOT using the new feature "Adjust Size and Quality for Optimal Playback".

I can’t see any improvement with a single core system.
But “Multi-core rendering for playback » is now enabled by default in internal preferences.
So… I really needs to upgrade my old PIV system :-))

You really do notice everything :-)

But I did have the "Enable Multi-core rendering" on in my 8.0c also - of course...

It is nice, however, that this now is default.

But even so, the preview speed has been improved as said.

Since I wrote the post I have been testing - like everybody else do right now :-D - and I am looking at a nice and nearly stable 29.970 Fps preview speed - which even survives crossfades.

Possibly another new feature, the "Adjust source media to better match project render settings" also gives some improvements in speed.

BTW, Gilles: what is a "Single core" processor? normally they all are called something like "Quad" nowadays?
