preview via DC10+?

Howdy. I am curious if Video Factory has the ability to output video to the Pinnacle DC10+ capture card for preview on a TV monitor? Looking through the settings it appeared there was no way to do this but I thought I would ask. Obviously, it would be very helpful if the app could allow for this since it's generally very hard to tell how something looks on a real TV when looking at your nice computer monitor.

Cheers!

Your friends at Pinnacle have a pretty strict policy of keeping their hardware proprietary by not creating DirectShow drivers that other applications can use. Funny, they forget to mention this on the box. The Studio software is the only software that can print to tape using the DC10+ hardware. This includes just preview through the card. The same is true for the Studio Deluxe AV/DV card. I could not recommend Pinnacle hardware because of their proprietary attitude. I have a Studio Deluxe card myself and would love to use the analog side of it with Vegas.

Thanks for the reply. Too bad regarding preview via the DC10+. Ok then, any ideas what output hardware does Video Factory (if any) support? I was unable to find anything discussing this in the knowledge base.

<Random Thoughts Mode>I've printed to tape using a DC10+ and Adobe Premiere. Of course, that was with a "Miro" DC-10+ and not the Pinnacle Studio version.

The key was to use Pinnacle's MJPEG codec or it won't work at all.

Video Factory doesn't support preview on an external monitor so that won't work ever, but you should be able to print to tape somehow. Course, you can just import your video into the Studio software ....

Hmmm, given that Pinnacle uses a Zoran MJPEG capture chip, I wonder if Matrox's drivers for their Zoran based card work with the DC-10+</Random Thoughts Mode>
