Preview Window in 8.0c "Broken?' and filetype iss

Mabey I'm missing something but....

Installed Pro 8.0c over b yesterday and have noticed that I if I try to preview XHA1 .m2t clips in the explorer they do not show video in the project preview window like they should. Only audio of clips plays but video preview does not. The video preview screen does shrink to a smaller size though for some reason. Used to work just fine in 8.0b.

Doesn't make a difference if they are 24f, 30f, 60i files, all .m2t's do not show the video in preview.

With these .m2t's they work fine once placed on the timeline. They show in the preview and work like always.

I was messing with the trimmer last night when I first installed the update just to check out new features.....could this effect the preview window?

FINALLY THE REAL KICKER.....

I cannot preview or place .mov files on the timeline....it comes up with a 'unsupported format' popup window. So somehow I am no longer able to import Quicktime files at all!!
This goes for .mpg's and .wmvs as well...cannot use anymore in Vegas.

This is the same for cineform .avi's too. I can only preview audio from the explorer, with a 'video attributes could not be determined' message in the bottom left of the explorer tab. When trying to place the .avi file on the timeline only the audio track of the clip comes into the project.

So my question is DOES ANYONE KNOW WHATS GOING ON??

I installed the update from 8.0b in hopes that it would cure the issues I had previously with Canon XHA1 24f files (could not capture/memory leak issues or limitation to allowable # of files on timeline) And last night was overjoyed to find that the update had seemed to solve those issues. I had 188 24f files on the timeline with only 900Mb page file memory usage and thought, 'wow it's fixed finally..let's see if it can capture 24f...SUCCESS!!' But now I am stuck with the reality that it seems that I missed a glaring issue with the new update and may have to go back to 8.0b with it's limitations and Vegas 7 for 24f capture because Vegas 8.0c seems broken.

If anyone has any insight PLEASE...fill me in...

You've got to assume most of us are not having these problems....
I am not. I don't use m2t files but I found a few and put them on the
timeline with no problem. MOV quicktime files too. Mp4 files. SD Avi files.
H.264 m4v -- all play fine.

I'd uninstall, reinstall 8.0b -- see that all is well (or not) and reinstall from there
for more fun.

I'm not sure of this -- haven't checked it myself -- but I think if you have the Trimmer's own preview screen active, then previews from the explorer will be previewed in the trimmer screen. Since your trimmer is probably docked in the same window as explorer, you aren't seeing it. You have to undock the trimmer, or disable the Trimmer's own preview screen. (I think I read this somewhere else in the forum...)

The trimmer as a new icon that displays preview in trimmer only, click on the button top right I think and the old preview will work again.

All is good in the world again....it was my fault twiddling with the trimmer functions that changed the functioning of the preview window....

Scared the *%&^ out of me though.
