Preview window stretch???

I've done a search and could not find the answer to my question. All the time I've been using VV3.0 and whether or not I've encoded for files for the internet, when I played the files (.avi or .mov) I thought the players were squashing the image. I've since learned, using VV4.0 Beta, that it appears that the preview window in VV is stretching the video image. I discovered this with an image graphic that had a circle in its center.

I checked the settings and the images are being displayed as NTSC DV at .9091. In the preview window, the circle looks like a slight oval on its side (length-wise). When the file is played in any other player, it looks perfectly round. Why does this happen? Have I overlooked something?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Change the preview window to square pixels to see the 4 x 3 TV ratio.

DV resolution is not a 4 x 3 ratio. This is resolved when going back to tape, but if you want to create a file for your computer, you need to resize to the 4 x 3 ratio.

Dave and Marty--

Thank you both. Boy do I feel... huh, stupid! That appears to have fixed the problem. Thanks again!
