Preview Wobbling? ALT+D+1 GOOD .. ALT+D+4 Wobbles!

Grazie wrote on 10/9/2004, 11:35 PM
This shows on my Display I use with Tracks spread over both screens - this is my ALT+D+4. My ALT+D+1 also uses both screens but with tracks showing on just Screen 1 - Screen 2 has the Management stuff: Exploro; MedPool; FX; Trannies; Scopes and a small Preview Window etc etc .. no paused/stilled image wobbles

However, if - back in Alt+D+4 - I then insert a video track above the original AND plop down an empty event the wobbles go! What's all that about?

Sounds like a problem with mice or other vermin infecting your video.

. . .Started happening prior to the "Mouse Warning!" . .

By the time YOU saw him he'd already had his fill of monitor innards and was looking for something else to munch on.
But seriously, what kind of monitors are they?
Seem to recall you had LCDs in which case it's bit hard to fathom.
I'd did have a similar problem with a CRT, they just didn't like certain stuff on the screen and would marinally loose sync.
If you do have dual LCDs, how are they fed, both DVI? If got issues feeding one Samsung DVI and the other analogue.

"If you do have dual LCDs, how are they fed, both DVI? If got issues feeding one Samsung DVI and the other analogue." . . .

Dual LCDs . .17" Samsungs

I believe they come straight off the ASUS Mobo.

. . it is very weird behaviiour, considering I can stop the wobbles on pause by adding a track above and inserting an Empty event .. . wierd . ..

F/W out to Pannie deck thence onto my new JVC [ SVHS connection ]

Hm,
I've seen something wierd like that happen, it seems Vegas is feeding an odd signal to the monitor, something like wrong field order or last field from one frame and the first field from the next. Check to see if you've got QTF on, only a guess, I've sure seen it happen but it had nothing to do with final output so I ignored it.

QTF wasn't switched on - is now! BUT still no difference. Still wobbles. I have no idea what gives here - Grazie

A few things:
Do both screens wobble in that situation or just one?
Are they both set to the same resolution?
Did you try a different alt+d combination for the wobbly setup (like closing the scopes)

Check for bios update IF it has onboard video. Or video drivers either way. What video card is it?

What about reversing the desktop?

"Do both screens wobble in that situation or just one?" - It is the Previewing of the ext Monitor wobbling when Previewed, and then PAUSED, not the actual screen LCD. it is as if I've caught the flow mid field. AND I get Left or Right to NOT wobble, by going "relaxed" on the Vegas Preview screen . . that is making it big - yeah?

"Are they both set to the same resolution?" Oh yes . . .

"Did you try a different alt+d combination for the wobbly setup (like closing the scopes)" - Yes first thing I did . .still no difference.

"Check for bios update IF it has onboard video. Or video drivers either way. What video card is it?" - Apologies, here we go - NVIDA GeForce FX 5200 28/07/2003 4.5.2.3 - I get notified if a BIOS up date is needed by the company that created the MONSTA! I'll call them . .

Reversing the Monitors ? . . hmm . . . .

I really think this is an NLE issue . . . but I'm often incorrect

I agree...NLE issue. I haven't experienced it with CRTs and roughly the same setup
