Previewing full screen on a secondary TV monitor

When I got Windows Secondary Display selected as a Preview Device, both the TV monitor connected to my ATI's TV-out and the computer monitor go full screen. Is there a way to keep the timeline and other VMS controls on the desktop while previewing video from the timeline full screen on an external TV monitor?

When a miniDV camcorder on FireWire is selected as a Preview Device the video comes through intermittently with no audio at all.

If somebody could help to fix these bugs it would be very much appreciated.

1) Sounds like you need to go into your ATI control centre, and change a setting about full-screen preview somewhere. (I'm on nvidia now so can't tell you the exact location)

Thanks for a quick reply.
So, when you click "Preview On Extermal Monitor" icon you're still seeing the timeline on your computer monitor and TV-out goes to full screen. Is that right?

In my case I have ATI9600 card in Desktop Clone mode + Theatre Mode (full screen) so when I play a video file, let say, with Windows Media Player it comes full screen on external TV monitor and stays squeezed on the desktop as it supposed to. I thought my ATI settings are correct but Vegas for some reason switches both displays to full screen. Any thoughts?

I think clone mode is your problem. I don't have a theatre mode on my older ATI card, but with clone mode set both displays always show the same thing, which seems like what clone mode should do.

Even in a Single Display Mode when clicking on External Monitor icon it brings video to full screen on my main monitor covering timelines.
Maybe VMS just works this way.

With my ATI card i selected the "extend my windows desktop to this monitor" option in the display settings. I now have a single desktop that covers both monitors, but i maximize Vegas to use only the first monitor. When i click the external preview button the preview fills the second window without covering the first.

Thanks for trying to help.
I got "Extend Windows Desktop to TV Monitor" in my ATI settings as well as "Theatre Mode (full screen)." Media player stays squeezed on the main and goes to full screen on the extended which is good. But in Vegas it still does the same thing covering timeline on the main while the Windows desktop remains on the extended.
I checked Preview Display Preferences, when Display Adapter: 2-1024x768/60 is selected - full screen preview doesnt work at all, when 1-1024x768/60 is selected - full screen video is on the main monitor only.

OK, now, I got it working right!
I've changed something in the Catalyst settings (dont know what) so it started working as needed.
Thanks a lot for your support.
