Print from timeline to tape error

Have done this many times with Vegas 6 without problems
but suddenly today the "use device control" was greyed out and not choosable.

Tried with VV5 same thing!

Tried with VV4 and no problem - it worked fine.
What can be the reason?
My Cam is a Panasonic GS400 connected with firewire.
