Is your audio too hot? Meaning going over the 0db mark on the audio meter? That is usually the case when just the audio is cutting out and the video is fine.

Nope not the problem just tried lowering volume and same thing.

Could be a corrupt file. Maybe a result from bad capture. Digital signals must be 100% stable. I have had this issue in the past.

Good Luck.

Have you added anything new to your system or changed anything between the working and non-working periods?

If not, try a defrag on your media drive(s).

No, I have not but I will try a defrag. This is really weird. I tried other avi files just to see if it was my fire wire connection and it works fine. Then I tried muting the audio and the video portion works fine then I tried muted the video then the audio works fine on the printed DV tape. Could it be anything to do with one of the cameras in the render I have never used before and it is a super 8?

PS Well, 14 hours on Rush order and 4 hours in trouble shooting has all paid off just got back from Middle School and they cheered at the video!! Now without sleep since yesterday it's 1pm... I decided to have a steak and a San Miguel Dark Beer...ahhh the life of a video editor.
