I've never had this problem, but I've a few questions - have you ever been able to PTT or capture with this setup, is device control enabled, are you using firewire, can you try a different camera, can you try different s/w such as Scenalyzer?

IanG, I have a question for you. I have been unable to either capture or PTT with Screenblast since I purchased the program about 2 months ago. I have been going round and round with Sony tech support and they are telling me that it is probably due to me using Microsoft XP Media Center Edition operating system.

If this were the case would I still be able to use Scenalyzer, which I do and it works for both capture and PTT flawlessly, and that Screenblast might not work?????

I am so frustrated at this. Sony support is telling me that it might not get fixed anytime soon, so I should not hold my breath.

Does anyone else use Media Center with Screenblast and is successfully capturing and PTT?????


I am not adverse to using Scenalyzer, but I purchased Screenblast to do everything except for DVD authoring.

So far as I can tell, there's not much difference between XP Pro and Media Center - it's just a few bolt ons. Assuming you're capturing via the TV card, I'd start by looking at the (Hauppauge?) drivers - they could be compatible with Scenalyzer but not MS. It may be that a newer (or older) driver will help. I've seen problems reported with the newer drivers, though they were nothing like yours. Another approach might be to get hold of a cheap firewire card and see if that works.

Given that Scenalyzer does work, is the freeware version OK for you? I can't remember what its limitations are, but it may be another option. You can specify the video capture program you want to use in MS, so it simply replaces the existing Vidcap.

What computer make and manufacturer do you have? You were able to capture once you disabled the EvCapMaui thing, right?

PTT in VF 2.0 a while back. This is the first try in SCreen balst. I can capture. yes Device controll is enabeled it starts and after a few seconds the computer locks.. Yes a firewire TI based card, Only one camera. Have tried movie maker in XP and can capture but MM closes as soon as I try to drag ght capture to the time line. i reloaded VF 2.0 and it locke when i try to PTT also.

I have an HP m385c Media Center PC.

Yes I was able to capture and PTT one time only, now neither works, or I should say if I disable the TV tuner card I can capture but not PTT.
