SUBJECT: print to tape

I have a JVC SR-VS10 mini dv/vhs vcr connected to my system. I can capture video without a problem, but Vegas won't print to tape. VCR shows it's recording, but when I play the tape back, I get nothing...just a blue screen. It doesn't even show up in the preview window as it's printing to tape, either (i have the option selected).

I've reconnected to device, have tried printing to tape from the vidcap program and nothing has worked. Any suggestions?

Are you sure you've got your print to tape set to start the recording for you, ala DV Device control? If so, can you control the device from Vidcap? If not, that would suggest bad cable.

not a bad cable. I can print back to my camcorder, just not to the vcr. This is strange. I've done it before, but now it won't work.

Can you turn passthru off on your camcorder? Is the audio frequency shifted to 32K by chance?

I have similar JVR VCR. I have had problems with the firewire connector. It wouldn't work and then it would after I replugged it. Also it can be finicky about how your settings are configured, especially if you are doing a feed through to the VHS. Also try powering it off and back on. That will sometimes cause Vegas to see it again.
