Print to tape???

Salamander wrote on 8/12/2009, 3:42 AM
I have a project I shot in HDV with my XH-A1. I captured it in Vegas Pro 8, made some minor edits, and now am trying to put it on a mini dv tape in standard definition. I am trying to use the print to tape function, but can only get so far as the rendering step. When I try to do the final print to tape step, the camcorder records a dark screen - which is also what it shows in the one window.

I've never tried to do this before, so I don't know what I am doing wrong. Any ideas?

ststing the obvious here but make sure cam is in dv mode, and I would render the hdv stuff out and open a new veg with the rendered video and then try to print

You don't say where you are, but didn't they disable the tape record mode on camcorders in Europe to avoid the VCR tax or some such ?? (I'm in the US, so have not had that issue, but I seem to remember this from a couple of years ago).

Do you mean the camcorder I used to download the project onto the computer (I didn't change it to SD mode), or the camcorder to which I'm trying to print (it's an SD camcorder).

The US models should not have that issue. You should be able to set the camera to the vcr mode and tape directly from the DV input (it's been a while since I have written to my Sony camcorder (D8)

I have followed all the directions from the manual to no avail. Has anyone been successful printing to tape?

And the preview looks ok? What project properties setting are you using?
