Print to Tape- Anyone can help?

Hello All,

I have recentley upgraded to Vegas Pro8 and have since had issues while doing routine print to tape. The issue is with the Leaders and Trailers options. I have all options checked, Add test pattern leader (SMPTE Bars- NTSC), Play 1Khz tone with test pattern, add a 5 sec black leader and add a 5 sec black trailer. The test pattern will not show......the black trailer and leader have a red horizontal line pattern thorughout . The only thing that works proporly is the tone.

Has anyone experienced this? Or, does anyone have any suggestions of where to look for solutions?

Thanks for your help.

Joe

Sorry ..... been offline for a couple of days.

I print my finished :30 project back to the camera in the default uncompressed template with the rendering quality set to best. I have used different cameras and never had any issues until my V8 install. I use either my Canon GL2, or the one I have used most is a Sharp VL-NZ55 that was given to me a few years ago. It has been used many times as a firewire tape deck. I like the print to tape options because it makes for an easy work flow to quickly render a :30 second commercial directly from the timeline to the tape........and then off to the UPS drop box.

I can usually play around with things when I have issues and eventually figure it out. I was just hoping that a technically saavy Vegas user may have already found a solution to this themselves.

If anyone has any hints as to where they would start looking........feel free to take a guess.

I will probably just do a re-install over the weekend to see if it corrects the issue.

Thanks for responding.

You can't print to tape using uncompressed.

Thanks John.

I am a true novice at this so sometimes I list things that I am not quite certain of. While printing to tape, under the cutom settings, it allows you to scroll through and click an uncompressed video template. I just realized that when I choose that option, it just enters my default project settings as the parameters for the print to tape (if that makes sense). So to be honest with you ........I don't have a clue what form of compression is being used to print back to tape. All I know is that most of the time,if i set up my project correctly with the highest quality render settings, when I print to tape I get a very good finished product that looks good when I see it airing on my TV during the commercial breaks.

By-the-way my problem has somehow fixed itself. I have also had issues with capturing video into Vegas so I had to use Sonic for a basic Capture to DVD project. Upon returning to Vegas today...print to tape works just fine.

All of my knowledge of VIdeo has come from hours of trial and error, guided by you and the rest of the forum members.

Thanks Again,
