Print to Tape - Canon XL/2

I'm trying to "Print to Tape" on my Canon XL/2 using Vegas 11. I know i've done this before with version 7 and windows xp. Now i'm trying to do this again with my new computer, window 7 64bit.
The problem i seam to be having is with I put my camera in the "External Control" mode.. the computer detects the "Canon XL2 AV/C Storage Driver" but doesn't load it. Canon's website doesn't seam to list any windows 7 drivers. I attached it to a win 7 32 bit computer and got the same driver error.
Anyone else using an XL/2 to print to tape with?

Maybe the camera should be set as 'VCR'. As per viewing tape (ie not in record mode) If PTT (HDV) the camcorder is best preset to HDV mode.

The other possibility is that the firewire driver needs to be set to legacy again well documented in this forum.

Also are you updated to latest? PTT was corrected in this update.

Thanks Geoff,
I tried the camera in VCR mode.. went to "Print to Tape" selected the fire wire card but the device list was empty.
I also changed the fire wire card driver to the legacy driver as indicated but that didn't seam to make a difference.
Yes this is build 595

It's just possible your new computer is faulty.

I think at this stage I would check out the camera & firewire cable on another computer. Any video editor will do ie MS Movie Maker or a trial of VP11.
The firewire is easily damaged. My wife shot 3 camcorders in less than 10 minutes whilst trying to capture a tape.

Back to your new pc I was going to ask if it shows up the device manager but this may not be a good test. I'm currently capturing a tape using HDVSplit but there is no image device showing in device manager so checking in dm is not a reliable test. I remember it from XP days but never checked before in W7. It's always worked.

Hopefully another forum reader can step in & assist you.
