Print to tape delay

What happens with print to tape command? I took 2 AVI files totaling 80 minutes, trimmed a few frames between the 2 & then used the print to tape command. It took about 4 1/2 minutes before the print to tape actually started to happen. With other programs this command usually had the camcorder recording within seconds. I assume that some sort of file was being created because I then got a message from XP that my 'C' drive was running out of space.

What files were being produced & do they automatically delete once the tape is made? As far as I can recall I haven't got any Vegas function set to create files on the 'C' drive.

This depends, somewhat, on the hardware/OS. I use two machines which are VERY dependable. Tell it to PTT with a 5 second delay, it starts in 5 seconds - every time (using Win2K). Now, I have a laptop which may start in 5 seconds. Or it may start in 30 seconds. Or some other length of time. The laptop is running XP (which seems to be more troublesome in this regard).

One way people have helped reduce the latency is to reboot just before doing the PTT. No guarantees to totally solve the problem but it should help.

You also need to go through all the settings and point all rendering locations OFF the c drive. Everywhere you see a file path in File - Properties and Options - Preferences, change it OFF of drive C. Read the newsletters at www.jetdv.com/tts for a full description of these settings.
