Hello, I have a Sony TRV130 camera. I am able to capture and use all the controls fine. My problem is when I try to print my edited movie back to the camera, my camera does not recieve the movie. I have tried to manually do this and the other way without any results. The movie plays on my computer but does not show on the camera preview screen and is not recorded. Any tips about how to make this work? Thanks in advance.

Are you using the Print to tape wizard?

I did everything the wizard said. I rendered the movie for recording to my camera but still no play back on the camera.

Please confirm:

1) you can capture a DV clip thru 1394 and print it back to the DV camera (without rendering it)

2) you rendered the project as NTSC DV

3) the rendered file is loaded in the video capture tool when you try to print to tape

1. Yes I can capture a DV clip thru the Pinnacle 1394, however I am unable to print it back to tape. The same thing happens. Even without rendering it. The computer plays it back full screen but the camera does not show it or record it. I tried pressing the record buttons manually but still nothing.
2. Yes I rendered the project as NTSV DV.
3. Yes again
I do have the Dell Mohave thingy in my computer. I have another 1394 card made by Pinnacle as well installed. I am able to print to tape using the Pinnacle software. But I want to use Video Factory software. I do not want to shift from program to program to get different funtionality. I need the Dell Mohave thing to capture old videos.

Thanks again for your help.

I had same problems with my Sony TRV120E at first, but I just kept on trying different things, like having the camera switched on before loading programme and switching on and off. make sure your file path is clear. Sometimes the problem lies in communicating to camera. See other postings, . Have you got version 2 VF and have you then downloaded the update 2.0c? Defragging makes a lot of difference. Keep trying.

When you say that you have the "Dell Mohave Thingy", I am assuming that you mean the Dazzle hardware that Dell was installing as part of their "Dell Movie Studio II" factory option. If so, are you able to write back to your camera using it's 1394 port?

The Mojave Device was the source of numerous troubles for me, and it may be that your Pinnacle 1394 card is enjoying a hardware conflict with your Mojave Device.

I finally threw away the Mojave device that came with my system, and deleted the MGI software. I replaced the software with VF, and the hardware with an Adaptec 1394 card and an external analog-to-digital converter by Canopus (the ADVC-100). At least for the time being, life is now good.

If you are able to tolerate the financial loss, I would recomend doing the same. The Canopus converter is everything that people say it is. Definately top drawer stuff.

I have the same problem and have not been able to fix it. I have used a sony digital-8 trv120 and a jvc dv camcorder. Likewise, I can print to tape with the pinnacle software, but not SF. I can bring video in from either camera using SF. I have the same card and the same results, exactly. Email me if you have fixed the prob.
thanks

I have a question for you two...Do you have your camera in the VCR mode, or the Camera mode?? Have you tried one or the other?

Well I'm kind of new to this and this is kinda late but I figured this one out.
Canopus has an input select on the top left.
Press it until the 'Digital In' light is on.
In VF, select 'print to tape' and 'record to device'.
It works.
