Print to Tape Error with Version C

James-Thurman wrote on 10/27/2002, 2:33 AM
I recently upgraded from version 3.0a to 3.0c. Print to tape worked fine before the upgrade but now I get an error message (Error 0x8007001f) and cannot get any file to print. My camera is the same, but I have added an ADS firewire drive since the last time I tried print to tape. I tried printing from both the firewire and from my c: drive and both create the same error. I also store all my prerenders on c: so that is not the problem. Capture works fine. Any ideas?
Thanks,
JDT

Hi Jim,

I suggest you store your prerenders on a media drive. It may help in a number of ways. Your system is accessing the c: drive at the same time it is trying to read video.

Hi Marty,
That's why I bought the ADS drive, the same one DSE used on the VAST Tour, but yesterday I read on a prior post that Sonic Foundry now says they will cause problems. Also, this morning I disconnected the 1394 drive and tried to print to tape an old file that was created before I had the firewire and had previously printed to tape, and I still get the same error message, (An error occured while creating the video files. Error 0x8007001f (message missing)). Now I'm in a bind because I have spent weeks creating an important video on Version c and I understand that it won't work on Version a, so I can't go back. Any ideas how I can get it to tape?
Thanks,
JDT

Hi Jim,

I also use an ADS enclosure with a WD120GB drive and experience no trouble. I can Print to Tape (PTT) through the ADS to the camcorder.

You might try rendering the program to a DV avi (default template), and using the Vegas *Capture* PTT tools.

FWIW, Using the system drive for media is a near guarantee of problems, especially PTT.

Hi Marty,
Thanks for the quick responses. I was able to print to tape using capture and the rendered AVI file, so this will save my bacon, thanks. I also was able to get PTT from VV3 to start to work one time (it got past the point where the error message appeared, at the end of rendering the prerenders) but then it locked up after it started sending video to the VTR. Maybe someone from SF can tell me what the error message means.
Thanks for the help,
JDT

try uninstalling then reinstalling Vegas 3.0c, and choose YES to overwrite all existing files when you do the 3.0c reinstall. That error sounds like a wav64 proxy file bug we fixed in 3.0c, so maybe a .dll didn't get overwritten during the update.

That fixed It! I used the "Repair a recent install" from the VV3 uninstall program and now it works fine. Must have had a corrupted file like you said. Thanks a million for the help.
I love Vegas Video,
