Print to tape in Capture program does not allow leader?

I thought that I found my solution to the prerender dilema, render to an AVI file and have Vegas Capture do the print to tape for me, but found out the painful way that capture does not have the same options (such as ramps, bars, and even a black leader) as printing from the timeline. Back to prerenders for me.

There is a nearly painless solution around this. Create short .avi files containing the ramps, bars, and black you wish. These are easily done with the media generator. Then when using VidCap's print to tape, load these files first in the order you wish followed by your video. They will all be printed in the order listed seamlessly in one step. In fact, you can print large numbers of files seamlessly this way. It's a handy way to create a video in many small sections and then have them become one long video on tape.

Chienworks, I was at first going to post and say you were full of beans :-)
Reason for beans is I have always created a standalone icon for VidCapture so I could run it without having to run Vegas. That just seemed neater and cleaner to me.

Maybe everybody else but me knows this, but it turns out if you do that the version run from a stanalone Icon is "Vidcap Express" which will not allowed stacked print to tape files. When Vid Capture is run from Vegas you get the full monte which will allow it. HeHe, go figure and a sideways thanks for pointing it out :-)

DDogg: that's very odd. I always run VidCap from a stand-alone icon on my desktop. I don't think i've ever yet launched it from inside Vegas. I'll have to try that tonight and see what happens. But in any case, running it stand-alone allows me to stack multiple files to be printed. The shortcut i use is

    "C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\Vegas 4.0\vidcap40.exe"

Are you running something different than that?

Oh, and full of beans would be a sad, sad, very sad thing. I'm severely allergic to legumes ;)
