Print to tape on a Sony Dig 8 in 4.0 V.V.

I've tried contacting Sony about this but all I get from them is ads for Vegas 5.0. I would like to dump my .avi's back onto my Sony TRV-130 Dig 8 Camcorder. Ironically, I was able to do this using a Ulead 5.0 program, but does not work with Vegas 4.0. It seems to start to work and then it says it doesn't detect anything hooked up, then everything freezes up. It doesn't show me any controls for the camera and I'm at my wits end. Surely this must work. I haven't upgraded to anything since my original purchase, so I'm still on 4.0 build c. Anybody have any hints? I made my video device OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394/DV and the details box said: This device supports recompression Hot pluggable device Device unavailable. Of course I have question marks in my head about those details. I just don't understand.

Sounds more like a firewire problem than anything else, although do you have Enable DV Device Control checked? If not, do so.

What OS are you running?

Vegas 4.0 is up to revision "e". Have you tried downloading the latest update?

Also, just to make sure, you are rendering to DV NTSC (or DV PAL) format, correct? You can't print through firewire if you use any other template.

Vegas locked up on me when windows was trying to use the DVCAM driver. Try reinstalling your device and avoiding that driver.I think you want microsoft camera device or something like that.

Sorry. Too busy and couldn't get back until now. I've had good luck, with VV 4.0 since I got it. i never tried dumping .avi's back into my Dig 8 until just recently when I got a big project and ran out of space on my Harddrives. I think the confusing message, I mentioned in my 1st thread, is the key. The last part says: Device unavailable. I just won't have time to test these theory's for a few days. I have to keep moving now. Thank you everybody, for now. I think 'frogmugsy' might be on to something. To 'farss': sorry, but it's ME. It works fine with Vegas and I don't multi-task much. But I know what you're thinking. It's the only chink in my armor. (besides me)
