Print to tape without render?

Pinnacle's StudioDV and Studio 7 do not render new video for those sections of edited video that are merely re-arranged on the timeline. This feature considerably reduces both rendering time and disk space. I had thought that I read in some of the release literature on the VF upgrade a few months back that VF 2.0 also includes this feature.

Question: If I do a cuts-only edit on DV video, and my goal is to simply print it back to a DV camcorder, must I still render a new DV file?

If the answer is yes, please note that for me, this is the number one feature request for any new version of VF or Vegas. VF 2.0 is superior in almost every way to Pinnacle's Studio products, but I still use Studio almost exclusively for cuts-only projects because the lack of rendering time cuts end-to-end project time by hours.

Thanks your replies to this question.

Yes. I'd say just keep using Sudio DV for those basic cuts only productions.
For stuff you want to edit in VF, I've having great success with rendering DV at preview quality in Vegas. It's a ton faster than good and best render quality settings. I can't see any difference in quality, unless I'm doing something with resample turned on(slomo or pan/crop). Being as I use Studio DV for all my print-to-tape sessions, I can do region renders at good setting where I need it and preview for everything else. Very easy to stich it back together in Studio for output. One can also add titles in Studio that can be changed later without rerendering the whole project. VV/VF and Studio DV are a great combo.
Email me if you need, I don't stop in here to the VF forum much.

Thanks for the interesting ideas. I hadn't thought of playing with the render quality. I'll try that.
