If your Digital 8 camera has a Firewire port I would assume the process is identical.

The process is identical. Use a firewire cable and print to tape.

I think usb linked to converters work ok, but for direct dv cam to pc firewire is best. This link gives a bit of info: http://thetechnozone.com/videobuyersguide/capturecards/IEEE1394cards.html

I understand that Firewire works better but is it possible with UBS and if so how?

Welcome to the forum!

How did you get your video 'into' your computer?

I started editing video by capturing with USB, but the quality was terrible! Plus, that was with an analog camera, and I had no way of printing back to the camera.

You can get a firewire card and cable for about $40. (I got a Siig card and cable at CompUsa for that price).

With a Digital 8 camera, this is the only way to go, IMO.

If you need help getting this set up, let us know. There are hundreds of helpful people here, so don't be afraid to ask.
