What kind of camcorder do you have?

I have a Panasonic DV

Well, on my Sony, in the menu on the camera, there is a 'Enable DV in/out'. I'm not sure if that will help you or not.

Maybe someone else has an idea if it doesn't work...??

The capture/ptt utility in VF can get a bit sticky sometimes. Try rendering to file so you won't have to re-render if it fails and you can ptt later.

Make sure all b/g progs are off when ptt (especially av, except syst tray and explorer). Try various permutations of dvcam on/off when launching VF.

Good luck.

laz111: I have already rendered to a file. How do you get VF to print to tape without it going thru the rendering. Every time I try to print ptt it goes thru the whole rendering process. Thanks

There is another way - promise.... here goes

Print To Tape - look at the bottom of the screeen menu. You'll see "Use an exsisting file:" you will then have the "Browse" option then scour your hard discs for whatever you want! If you've render or captured it through VF you can then select it and use it as your PTT file.... Neat eh? I also cheat and use Studio7 captured or rendered files - no problemo!

Now I very rarley use the create a file to render to produce a file that I use for PTT - I rather "produce" the rendered file preview it to makes sure it is what I want and then PTT using the procedure above.

Have fun and reeeellllaxx

Grazie

cgar, you haven't said happens when you try to ptt, just that it doesn't produce a tape. How far does it get? Once the vidcap application starts you should see a Print to Tape tab. There are 3 buttons on that screen, including "Record to Device". Is that grayed out?

Regarding your camera, is it capable of handling DV IN? I don't know where you are, but a lot of European models don't have that feature (though some of them are easy to hack!).

Cheers
