Printing to Tape

I'm new to this game and need a liilte help. When I've completed a project and select 'print to tape' , everthing works up until the point where it actually 'prints to tape' after rendering. At this point my DVC screen flashes between blue, black and sometimes I get a momentary flash of the film I'm trying to send to tape.I have tried just sending a 5 second clip. The PC is talking to the DVC as it actually starts recording automaticallyand stops at the correct time. All my settings seem to be correct (PAL DV). I have no problem capturing clips. Please Help!!!

PAL eh? .. Go into the capture utility and try removing "Minimum Clip Length" check. Meaning Deselect Minimum Clip length .. . its an old wrinkle that might have found you out . . I've got mine deselected and the symptoms you say are too similar. Try it . .

. .so that's

Vidcapture Utility > Options > Preferemces > Capture tab > Min imum clip length (seconds) . .UNCHECK. APPLY!

Thanks for the reply.Still no joy! I'm using PAL setings as I live in Bonnie Scotland and we are still using this format over here! . I'm trying to put together a video for Christmas and I'm running out of time.Any other suggestions most welcome. Maybe it's my old trustworthy system? It's a 1.1Ghz processor,256MB Ram, 40 Gb HDD (with 36Gb free). Graphics card only has 32Mb Ram. Possible problems???

What if you try a different firewire cable and/or camera?

Try rendering the project to a new avi file, then use the " record to tape" function in the vidcap program rather than the PTT in Vegas. We do that routinely now as it eliminates pixelization that sometimes occurs with PTT.

May seem real obvious, but check your tape. Maybe try another one.

Are you printing to DV or VHS. DV you can use control device . .BUT of coursem you can't with VHS. in which case you will need to uncheck the use DV Control box and THEN use the Manual process to .. well . .Print To Tape .. get back to us here and see what else we can do . . .

Sorry for not replying. I 'destroyed' my software whilst tinkering and have been off-line ever since! Re-installed Windows XP and all is working perfectly. Thanks to all for your help!
