Greetings,
I've been a happy user of the Vegas Movie Studio software, but find that I need scripting, which is only in the Pro version. This morning, I purchased the Pro V9 (build 563), and installed it. Unfortunately, it won't run. DVD Architect Pro 5.0b works fine though.
Initially, the software started loading, then complained about a DirectX plug-in. This shouldn't be a show stopper, as it continues once I OK the rundll error message. It proceeds until it gets to "initializing UI", then it sits there. There's no CPU activity, and task manager doesn't say it's not responding.
Here's what I've done:
-Normal uninstall, and reinstall.
-Clean uninstall and reinstall per these instructions-
http://snipurl.com/j8lkj [www_custcenter_com]
-Updated MS DirectX drivers
-Installed all DirectX drivers on Sony's download page. Initially, this didn't help, but after a couple tries, the DirectX error went away, and has stayed gone. Now the program boots all the way to "initializing UI", then stops.
-turned off all startup items using msconfig.
-tried a monitor in landscape mode.
-updated to the latest Nvidia drivers.
After all this, Vegas Pro 9 will not run. I'll probably send this tale of woe to the official support folks as well, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them.
Thanks,
Rusty
