Pro Type Titler

Confused about how to use this.

I think I must be doing something wrong, because I don't see the titles I'm creating in the Project Media tab. And on the timeline, each title is labeled "Sony Pro Type Titler" with a number, rather than something that tells me which title it is. I'm expecting to name each title I create as a title file and for the name of the file to show in the timeline. Apparently you can't name each title? Vegas just gives each title a number? I'm finding that confusing because I don't know which title is which unless I write each one down on paper as I create it, which seems cumbersome.

A few titles do show in the Media tab, again named Sony Pro Type Titler with a number rather than with a filename so I can tell which is which. And only some of them are there with gaps in the numbering.

The process I'm using is to drag the preset I want to use to the timeline and the Titler Window opens. I put in the text I want, font, etc.

What do I do next? I understand that I can save it as a new preset by naming it and clicking Save, but I don't want to save every title that way, right? I should save it as a new preset only when I have created a format/template I want to be able to use again, right?

I read help, but I don't see that it explains how to name or otherwise keep track of them. The only way I've found to see what one of the titles I've created says is to drag it to the timeline and look at the preview window, which is cumbersome.

Sorry if this post is muddled and confusing. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong plus have created my titles in different ways, so they are showing up in different ways--not in the video--the video is OK. It's just that as my project grows I'm loosing track of what I'm doing.

Thanks!

That's with everything. generated media using the media's name # adds a number. video clips/pictures just use the file names. you need to manually change that (annoying at times, especially when you use a lot of text)
