Problem Burning DVD

I have made a movie in Movie Studio 6.0b and have rendered the file in mpeg-1 format. When I attempt to burn a DVD, I get a message stating:
The file being rendered has exceeded the maximum size allowed for the selected format.

The file referenced is a .wav file. I am really stuck at this point and any help is greatly appreciated.

I believe it has to be rendered in mpeg2 format.

my2sons8791,you,too, can render to DV and then let DVD AS do a Fit to Disc option. In MovieStudio, go to file then render as.. next choose ..video for windows, in the template choose ..ntsc dv or,if in PAL Land,Pal dv.You might want to check the last 2 check boxes in the botton. Hope this Helps!!

Thanks for the replies. I got the movie rendered as a mpeg-2 file as suggessted. I do not have any sound with the video though. What did I do wrong? Thanks in advance!

OK, got the file rendered as mpeg-2, then rendered just the audio as .wav. The file was still very large, so I did as was suggessted:
Rendered to DV AVI file from Vegas Movie Studio, sent that to DVD Arch Studio, and using the "fit to disc" option.
Now the compression was so high because of the audio file, that the video is a bit grainy.

Can you render as mpeg-2 (just video), then render the audio as .pca, then bring those two files into Arch Studio for final burn to DVD?

Sorry for these basic questions, but I am a newb at this stuff. Thanks for all the help!

Your options for DVD audio basically come down to WAV (aka PCM, uncompressed) with the version you are using. Regardless of whatever intermediate format you render too, DVDAS will convert to PCM. IIRC, the latest version of DVDAS supports AC3 audio, which will give you a significant size savings.

Thanks. I ordered the upgrade to Platinum 7. this evening. One other question - when I render the file to mpeg-2, does that also render the audio? I read that the audio has to be rendered separately. I guess this will be a non issue when I get the upgrade, but I am trying to understand how all this works together. Thanks for your help.

If you use one of the DVDA templates for your MPEG-2 render, then the audio does not get rendered with the video, you must render the audio as a seperate step.

If you render your audio multiplexed with your video, then DVDAS will need to demultiplex the audio from the video and re-encode it in either AC3 or PCM format and then re-multiplex it with the video.
