Problem capturing HDV

I just started using a new Dell XPS computer with Windows Vista Home premium. I installed VMS 7.0 and connected my camera. The program recognizes the camera but when I start capture it cuts off and a window pops up saying:

Warning: A Failure occurred in capture.

An exception has occurred.

Failure to start capture.

If I hit the play button within Movie Studio it will play the video on the small preview screen, so the connection is there. Any ideas as to what is causing this "failure to capture" and how to correct it?

Well, I discovered the solution. You have to right click on the VMS icon and select "open as administrator" and then start the program. The video capture works just fine after doing this.
