Definitely isn't Vegas, there is either something weird in the file, or you've got a hard drive issue happening. Regularly loading 26 gig files here, on most machines.
I don't know Videomach, does it do a split/join info in the avi header if the file is over 4 gig?

I dont know what Videomach does in this case, anyone have any ideas?

videomach may not support files over 4gb , it has been many years since i used it -- don't recall ..

can you play the avi in media player ? all the way through ?

what kind of avi is it anyway ? many types ..

instead of using videomach -- how about loading the source files into vegas directly ..

In videomach im rendering an Uncompressed AVI from several thousand .bmp files.

I have talked to people that are doing what I am doing and they do not have a problem with files larger than 4GB, that's why I'm boggled as to what to do.

You can do the same thing in Vegas. Some of my animations start as thousands of .bmp files. They import into Vegas as a single video event just like an .avi file would.

I can't even import the .bmp files. I click on the first one or try to select all of them for import and my computer just hangs until Vegas ends up as Not Responding.

There are 2000~ .bmps btw.

Ok, nevermind, I restarted and can now import the bmps as a single file into Vegas and work with it.

I'd still really like to figure out what is wrong with Videomach, as I did pay for it and DO find it useful.

Thanks for all your help.

unless it has changed much -- everything it can do - you can do better with freeware and vegas combo
