Problem importing from Bluff Titler

fammonti wrote on 2/11/2005, 1:33 AM
Hi everybody,

I have a problem when importing into Vegas a Bluff Titler movie.

In BT I have exported to uncompressed avi with transparency a five test movie.

Then I have imported the test movie into Vegas, setting the properties to Premultipled (dirty) as the BT site suggests specifying the background color.

When I preview in Vegas I can see the title in the first frame only, then it disappears.

Am I missing something? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks to those who will help me.

Greetings from Italy.

Andrea

Can you confirm that the Bluff Titler track is on a higher track than all the other tracks?

I read that on their site, but I did it straight unmatted and had no problems, try it that way and see if it works for ya. - It was kind of confusing when i read the website, but even though it sounds like he's saying don't I contacted him personally and asked him about it, and he said that it should work with the straight unmatted.

Make sure there is no background layer.
Just a thought.

I think you also have to set the compositing mode of the Bluff Titler track to 'source alpha'... can't remember precisely and don't have access to Vegas at the moment but will check later.

In Vol 2, Issue 8 of my newsletter I reviewed BluffTitler and imported the output to Vegas. Here's a quote:

After getting the title finished, it was time to render to “Uncompressed AVI with Alpha (RGBA)” so I could load it into Vegas. Vegas did not automatically recognize the alpha channel so I had to right-click the clip, choose Properties, and change the Alpha Channel from “None” to “Premultiplied (Dirty)”. Immediately the title appeared over the background video.

Yes but the questioner has already done that......

This may seem completely out to lunch - Indeed, it did to me when tech support from Vegas got back to me after about two weeks telling me that Vegas did not respond well to blufftitler files if they are in a folder or any branch that has a folder named "Blufftitler" - so try renaming the folder your BT files are in
it is a long shot but check it out

From the Bluff Help:

"Peculiarities
Vegas 5 refuses to import files from a path containing the word "title". This is the comment from Sony: We have found a bug in our software when files and folder locations contain the name "title" such as BluffTITLEr. This should be changed in a future update once available. For the time being, change the folder name, or move this file in question and you should not have any problems opening it."

Hi everybody,

thank you very much to those who replied.

I have made some further tests and founf out that the problem only arises when importing a movie derived from one of the preset shows in Bluff Titler, i.e. polygons in the Media\Shows\Startup folder.

Other projects within the same folder, or new custom projects, have not caused any problem.

I really can not understand what happens with polygons.

Maybe some of you might like to try with polygons and let me know what happens.

Thank you again for your help.
