I just built a computer using Window XP as the OS. My older computer has been running with Windows Me and Vegas 3 then recently I switched to Vegas 4. I've had Vegas 4.0 for 6 or 7 months now. All of my projects where captured on the old computer using .avi files.
On the new computer I installed Vegas 4.0. I wanted to do a test render to check the speed of the new machine. Now when I try and open a project or .avi file the video stream is unknown for the individual .avi files. This is accross the board for every .avi file I've tried.
The .avi files play just fine using the Windows Media Player on my new Windows XP machine.
Any ideas as to what could be amiss? I'm getting really frustrated as I have several years worth of captured .avi files on all of my harddrives.
