Problem with audio from original video

I am a new user of Movie Studio 9 Platinum pro pack. I imported video clips from a Sony handycam. The video is fine but there is no audio from the original video. I have added a music sound clip and it works fine. This is a wedding video and I would like to use music on part of the project and when I get to the vows I would like to use the actual sound track from the original video. I would appreciate any help or advise. Thanks

What model is your camcorder?
What codecs are in the files?
What version of Quicktime is on your system?

I am using a DCR-SR80 hard disk drive. What is a codec? I am not sure what version of quicktime that I have. Sorry that I am so dumb with this. Maybe you can educate me!
