Problem with Mp3s/Codec

Lately I have noticed that when I use a recently ripped mp3 or even a perfect download of one, when I play it in my projects area, there are pop noises and a bubbly sound to it, though when I load it up in Sound Forge and Goldwave, there are no pop noises.. Did the mp3 codec for Screenblast become corrupted in any way, or is there a setting that I may have changed in Screenblast to cause this?

For what it's worth, I noticed this with some of the sound files that I've used, also. In my case, the rendered video file (.avi in my case) did not have the pops. I chalked it up to preview performance on my machine and I could live with the noise in the previews, but of course your opinion may vary!

In any case, if you haven't already, try rendering it to your target media type to see if the noises show up in your final product.

It has definitely shown up, which I believe is a very strong indicator that the MP3 plugin which does the "previewing" and the encoding into the final product is corrupt... Yet, I have already gone through the uninstall/reinstall process and its still acting funny, and I have a AMD 2600XP (@2GHz) and more than enough Ram, so I knows its not the computing processing.

Movie Studio 4 uses a DirectX-based plug-in to read MP3 files (also I think Screenblast Movie Studio uses it too). This plug-in does not have as good of performance of the MP3 plug-in that Sound Forge uses, which is probably why you are experiencing problems in playback.

Load your MP3 into an empty Movie Studio project and render as WAV. You may need to click the Advanced render button from the Save to the hard drive page in the wizard. Or if you have Sound Forge use it (or another sound editing application) to save as WAV PCM. Use that WAV file in your project.

Well, I have no problem converting the mp3 to a wave file (have goldwave and others to do that) its the fact that when I do so, it takes up that extra 28-33MB of space since mp3s are only 2 - 5MB in size. I had no problems in the past with using mp3s in my project. This problem has only come up within the past couple weeks or so.
