Problem with output to external monitor

I have ADVC1394 as a firewire card and ADVC-100 that my external monitor is connected to. The playback starts off just fine but the problem is that after 5-10 seconds of playback my whole system freezes for 20-30 seconds with high pitch sound and the picture disappears from the monitor. After that playback stops and the picture restores. If I press play again the story repeats - 5-10 sec of playback then 20-30 sec of freezing.

It looks like there is some conflict in my system but before going into a deep inspection I would like to here from somebody who might encounter something similar.

Check the Canopus manual for dip switch settings on the advc-100. I think you have to set the switches for manual analogue out to monitor.

There are no switches for the output type. I think that the problem is in the firewire card.
