Problem with Power DVD since installing DVD-A

Hi,
I recently bought the Vegas and DVD-A package.
Vegas functions fine, though I haven't yet seriously started using DVD-A, (on the verge of buying a burner).

My (related I hope) query is this:
Has anyone else, since installing Vegas and DVD, had any problems with Power DVD player? Any DVD (or AC3 encoded audio file) will play with the audio level raised by 27db! I determined this level by encoding a tone at -30db, which played at -3db from Power DVD.

Any other audio file; .wav, .mp3 etc, or any .avi or .mpg video plays fine, but AC3 encoded files are raised by +27db!

Any thought, solutions etc?

Thanks

Have you re-installed or upgraded PowerDVD deluxe since?
If so, watch to see that the player or encoder part of DVD-A doesn't get broken.

Multivendor MPEG and Dolby directshow filters can cause all manner of symptoms.
The worst combination I've seen have been through different peripherals forcing you to install their DVD decoder software on top of a previous.

Unfortunately the codecs for DVD players don't tend to appear in the control panel multimedia video codecs properties section to help you promote/demote priorities.

Just in case others with PowerDVD are ok, have you installed other DVD players before or since PowerDVD, ie just before installing DVDA?

Does the preview part of DVDA work OK? Without the +27dB hike?

Yes, and this does not seem to have solved the problem. DVD-A doesn't seem to have been affected by the re-install, i.e. the audio and video plays fine. However, the response of video and audio in the preview page seems a little slow. I put this down to my machine not being fast enough to cope.

I've tried Win DVD, and audio playback is fine. So now I'm confused and a little irritated, since I recently paid for an Upgrade to Power DVD shortly before installing Vegas etc. It's not the end of the world, but Power DVD is handy if I just want to watch a clip from a DVD on my computer rather than the television.
