Problem with Print To Tape

Videojohn wrote on 4/8/2004, 6:37 AM
It semms that the print to tape function in Vegas 4 does a bit what he want!
Several Time Vegas only strat to print to tape the film after more than 10 minutes of color bars. And if I stopp the process to print again, the computer program crash and I lost all the prerendered files!!!
What to do to fix that?
This seem to happen when I don't press the STart Button right after the window appears.
In general I do other things when rendering, so it can pass 1 hour after the rendering finished. Can it influence? All that is quit strange!!

Any help apriciated

Thanks

Videojohn

Bit difficult for me to follow. Sounds like you're trying to print-to-tape (PTT) from the timeline. Try rendering your timeline to an *.avi file and PTT from there. The timeline/pre-render PTT can be finicky trying to maintain the data flow from a variety of file sources especially if you're working the processor with other applications. Good luck. Darryl

Thank you Darryl, but is the qulity the same if you render your film in avi and after print it to tape?

Absolutely. The Vegas codec is well known for it's high quality retention. Can you give any info on your system specs? Darryl
