Problem with Render to AAC for iPod

I have a 15 minute project that I render to AAC. The resulting mp4 file plays just fine in iTunes, but when I try to sync my Ipod, I get an error that the video file will not play on the iPod. iTunes suggests that you convert the selection to a readable format. So I let iTunes convert my mp4 file and the result is a new m4v file. This file only has the audio stream and a blank white video screen when played in both iTunes and iPod.

If I render the file to windows avi, and then use Quicktime Pro to convert, then it works fine.

I've tried changing the bit rate and audio sample rate settings in the render to AAC, but that doesn't fix the problem.

Any ideas on why this wouldn't work?

Thanks
