problem with rendering, URGENT help needed

Finatic13 wrote on 1/22/2004, 6:35 AM
Hi all

Havent used Vegas for a month or so, got a job in last week from a customer that needed some work using Vegas.
When im rendering to either AC3 or MPEG2 its getting 30 to 40% done and then freezing my PC, only way out is to re boot.

Have just done a fresh install of XP Proffesional on another of my hard drives and not loaded anything on exept the captured DV file and the latest build of Vegas, and its still doing it!! No other problems with PC, everythings running fine.

Ive put the customer off the last couple of days but cant come up with excuses much longer.
Any help appreciated
regards
si

Do you have plenty of space in your temp file directory? (the one that Vegas is set up to use).

Is there a possibility that your CPU is overheating?

Hi Dave
Plenty of space in temp folder, have tried rendering to spare empty hard drive on secondry(180gig) and the system drive(120gig,110free) but still the same,
have just removed the CPU fan and re seated it with some more heat paste, see how i go on with that i guess. Not had any problems in the past with rendering or cpu heating up.
Is there anything i can run while rendering that tells me the temp of the CPU on my PC?

cheers

I have a program I downloaded called Aida. It tells you everything about your computer, inlcuding MB and CPU temp (if your MB supports this). I don't have the link, but you can do a search. I think it might be called Aida32.

cheers again Dave
Just got the Aida and its saying the following:

Motherboard 30`c (86f)
CPU 65`c (150f)

CPU fans doing 5400rpm

thats doesnt sound too bad does it?

Is that the temp while rendering or while idle?

I didn't do anything but glad it worked. I would be curious why it worked now and not before though.

Have fun!!!

lol, you told me it could be the CPU overheating:>) i took the fan off and re seated it with some new heat compound and gave it a good clean out :>)
im guessing i didnt have a good seat on the CPU maybe? it has to be that as ive done nothing else!

I know heat can cause some strange things, so maybe that was it.
