Problem with text

I insert text on a clip by right clicking on the text track and choosing Insert Text Media. However, often I get three text boxes instead of one, one appearing over the photo clip and two appearing on the tracks above it. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how to stop it?

Make sure that only the text track is highlighted, as it will add text to all text and video tracks that are selected. Cin

Do it a different way (often in Vegas, as in many computer programs, there is more than one way to do something) ...

You can choose the text box you want from those offered in the "menu" and drag it over to your timeline.

Thanks for getting me sorted. I discovered that I had all the tracks selected, which accounted for the duplication and when only one was, the problem disappeared. The second option also works for me, so I am spoilt for choice. Your help much appreciated.
