Problems importing from Sony HDR-UX7

I have three files on the miniDVD. The first two import successfully. The last does not not with error message referring to an access problem or a corrupted file. I assume a corrupted file. I can playback the file directly from the dvd to about 97% through and then it freezes. Assuming a corrupted file, what can I do to repair and salvage what a I possibly can of some great footage of my new grandson?

Have you looked at the recorded surface to see if a scratch or smudge is visible? Since you're having playback problems with that file, it doesn't seem reasonable that it's a problem with VMS. Even if you don't see a visible issue, try cleaning the recorded side of the DVD with a soft cloth and then try to play it.
