Problems Rendering to 4.7GB size for DVD burning

trackroad wrote on 9/16/2004, 11:59 PM
I've edited my wedding using Vegas 4.0 and want to burn a DVD but I can''t seem to get it rendered at a size that will fit on a blank DVD which only holds 4.7GB. The wedding is about 114 minutes and was shot with a Canon XL1.

What am I doing wrong? In what format and with what features should I render the project?

Help!!

Depebds what your settings are. 2 hours is pushing it, quality-wise, on one disc. Maybe split over 2 discs, then your bit rate can be higher on each.

You could render the project to DV, then let DVD Architect encode it (there's a fit to disc option).

For 114 Min you should be able to go with a video bitrate of 4.5Mbps, and AC3 audio encoded at 192 kbit/s and it should fit just fine and still maintain pretty good quality. If your source is from an XL1 which is very good to begin with you should have a very nice looking DVD in the end.
