Problems rerendering MPEG2

I have some large clips (1 hour) in mpeg2. I want to render them to a lower resolution and quality using VV3. (I have done this in the past with TMPGEnc). I tried two techniques with VV3... and hit dead ends with both.

1) I draggeed the clip into a timeline and noticed that it displays one of the frames over and over onto successive frames for the duration of the clip. It renders this way too. I also found a few cases where VV3 seemed to hit a seemingly infinite loop.

2) I tried the Batch Converter and found that it renders the video fine (no lockup, etc) but I can't get any audio.

So, can someone tell me what is the best way to simply rerender mpeg2 to mpeg2? Does the Batch Converter not render sound along with Video?

Thanks

Scott

1) Are you using the MainConcept MPEG-2 or the Ligos encoder to render your video in VV3? If you're using the Ligos encoder, please try the MainConcept encoder.

I am using the Main Concept encoder included in a fresh install of the web downloaded VV3.

I am experiencing a similar problem when attempting to convert AVI to SVCD or VCD using Batch Converter and MC encoder and pre-configured templates - no audio is produced into the output .mpg file, video is fine.
This problem is not encountered when dragging the AVI clip and rendering using VV 3.0 and the same MC templates.
What gives?
