Problems upgrading to Vegas Studio 4a

I installed the Vegas Studio+DVD (4.0) using my original disks and then registered the program.

After some frustration with Audio/Video issues I realized that new update for Vegas Studio is available. I downloaded the update and installed it. Once I run the new program it asks me for the registration again and the key from the original manual is not being accepted.

Can somebody help me out with this? What am I doing wrong? What is the correct sequence for upgrading the product to the version 4a? I need precise directions!

For some reason the release notes for 4a doesn't explain how you UPGRADE/UPDATE not just install.

The very last question - how do I know that I got original not the 4a version on my original CDs?

Thank you so much for your help!

Gene.

You're doing the install correctly: Installing the "update" is actually a full re-install of the product.

In my case, it also asked for the registration key again, but the same key worked for me. Assuming you've double-checked that you are correctly entering a 4.0 key, I'm not sure what to say.

Did you install the update into the same directory path as the original 4.0 install? Don't know if that makes a difference. You also might try doing a full uninstall and then an install of the 4.0a.

The only way I know to tell if your original CDs are 4.0 or 4.0a is to use them to install and then check the help -> About info. In my experience the CDs you got (especially if you got them a while ago) will be 4.0 and NOT 4.0a.
