Problems using After Effects w/ Vegas 4- Please help!

I've been trying to import footage into AE 5 to use Cinelook and have encountered a strange problem. When I import footage it looks darker, even before I apply any effects when inside AE.
I've read some posts here but haven't come across a problems that sounds like this exactly. Should I try altering my project setting to render to the microsoft codec or uncheck "ignore 3rd party codecs" or something of that nature? Thanks for any help!

I have never had this problem. Do not render to the MS codec. No need to. Get the Satish frame server plug-in gor VV and just serve to AE *or* try the Demo of RedGL and see if the cinleook plug will work in that. If so you would't need to leave VV really. Did you try using the adobe gamma settings? If so try not using them and see if it makes a difference.

Also you can get echo fire and try that - it will send AE output to firewire and out to your NTSC monitor.

Thank you for the help, I appreciate it. I'm affraid the Satish program won't work for me as I believe it's for AE 5.5 and above and I have AE 5. I'll have to try the demo of RedGL, but I can't see spending the money to buy Red so that would only be tantalizing.
I haven't touched the adobe gamma settings, but did lower the midtones a bit and this seems to have helped.
echo fire sounds very interresting, can you give me a link to them or more info on them?
Thanks yet again for all your assistance here. Always very helpful and I appreciate your taking the time.

The Satish plug-in is for VV and Premiere. I don't think the AE plug has been done yet.

Echo Fire is awesome, but it is expensive. I just now - really - like about 5 minutes ago - found this TVzeka for Adobe After Effects and it is only 35 bucks. Hmmm..if it works for your needs this could be what you want.

As for Echo FIre - it does offer a lore than just the AE plug - website is here: http://www.synthetic-ap.com/products/echofire/index.html
