Problems with Chapter Menus

I have had the same problem with two discs burnt with DVD Architect, and was wondering if anyone has any ideas....

I have created a menu-based disc which has two options on the intial menu - either play the whole video, or a link to the chapter pages.

When in the Preview function within DVD Architect, this all works fine - ie. if I click on the Chapter link from my initial Menu, I am presented with the first page of Chapter links, with Forward/Return options. Pressing forward, correctly, takes me to my next page of Chapters and so on. So all is fine and dandy so far...

However, when I burn the project to DVD, and play in set top players, the behaviour is somewhat different.

If I click on the Chapter link form the initial menu, it links to the first Chapter page, but then very quickly skips through each Chapter page. Thus I am unable to use any of the Chapter Selections.

As I say, this has happened on two projects now (the only two I have done with Chapter Selection menus so far!) and the same behaviour has occured on other set top players. I know DVD burning is still a lot of trial and error, bu t think this must be something to do with the software (ie. something I am doing or not doing).

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Richard

This is the first report of such behavior. From what you described, when you click on the link to scene selection menu, it shows page 1 of the scene selection menu briefly and then page 2 of the scene selection menu, etc., all without any user interaction. Is that right? So, what happens when it gets to the last page?

What brand and model of set top players did you test? Have you tried in software players (e.g. WinDVD and PowerDVD)? What behavior do they show?

Hi - I worked out what the issue was. When you add a default chapter page, the autocalculate length is ticked, and the actual length defaults to something like 0.4 of a second. The problem disc worked ok in software players too (eg. PowerDVD). Once the (5) chapter pages had flashed past, the disc is then Stopped (the little square Stop sign appeared on my TV screen).

The fix was that I changed the time to 5 seconds, and and ticked the Loop tickbox on. This seems to have resolved it. It still previews exactly the same within DVDA as the problem disc did, but now works fine on my set-top player (an LG something or other).
