Problems with chroma keying

LiliBateni wrote on 12/1/2017, 11:29 PM

When I try to chroma key a green screen in Sony Vegas Pro 15, it doesn't work. I have to click on the fx bypassed thing then the green is keyed out but then the rest of my video is all white and grey and messed up. I would really appreciate help with this because I am a little new to this and would like to use this feature. Thank you.

That doesn't work, when i put the green screen above the video, the green is either keyed and the vid is all grey, or the green shows and all my video tracks are fine.

What has been your method to produce the "To Be Continued' Plate?

Where are you getting the Text and Graphic from? I'm starting to thi9nk you;ve generated the Graphic from outside Vegas. If this is the case you really don't require a CK session to do this. Vegas allows you to produce all of this within Vegas! What Happens In Vegas . . . . .😉

mine doesn't show up like this. The keying just doesn't work at all. Should i try to uninstall and reinstall?

No, not yet . . . Please explain more fully what you are doing.

Eh? - I think I'm starting to understand. Break down the steps you are taking? Actually what are ultimately trying to achieve? Transparent Background Text OVER a video? - If so, this can be done simply within Vegas. No need for Chroma Keying.

So i screen recorded a youtube video which had the green screen, then I put that recording onto the track. I went to chroma key it, and I used the eye dropper tool to select the green it was. When i selected the green however, it did not key out the green. But as you can see in the video, when i click the button on top of the preview screen, it does key out but alternatively it makes all of my other video tracks that white grey color.

Ah-hah! - Now I understand . . . .

Forget CK. Just put another Track ABOVE your Video and add a TEXT Event. Edit it that with "To Be Continued" and you're done! You can even get fancy and prepare a "Plate" in a simple graphics package and use that. I did it with a GREEN BG so that I could understand more of what you were doing. Now that I understand your valiant attempts I can see you were FX-ing out all sorts of stuff you were needing - hence to Grey outcome.

Green Screening is a very effective Composting treatment in Vegas Pro and works awfully well 😎

Youre very welcome.

Here's another one I did just for you compare my two approaches. You can see the Legacy Text to the right of the CK approach:
