Problems with file formats

Hi. I just started using VideoFactory a few days ago. My apologies if these are simple questions.

I'm having trouble when I import media. VF doesn't seem to handle any of my files properly.

1. My MPEG-2 files. I'm not buying something extra just to support a common format. Is there any way to get it to handle these files?

2. My divX avi's. Encoded in divX 5.0.2 All that plays is the audio. The video is just a blank screen.

3. XVID MPEG-4. All it recognizes is the audio. It doesn't even register that there is a video component.

If anyone can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it. I can't really get anything done at the moment.

MPEG2 is a common format, but it is a licensed format. Meaning anyone software using it has to pay a fee. That is why some software companies charge for the MPEG2 options.

If I remember correctly, a lot of software is having problems using the Divx 5.x codec. You might search on the web for more information. MPEG4 is similar to Divx so it might suffer the same anomalies.

Yep, I too have trouble with Divx conversions. Even on ULEAD movies look fuzzy after the convert, and dont split apart easily. the_ripper
