Problems with Movie Studio 16 and 17

Movie Studio Platinum 16 used to work until it stopped some weeks ago. I get error (Failed to initialize script host.)

Then last night I upgraded to Movie Studio Platinum 17 after uninstalling v16 and was hoping to solve this problem but I still get the same error when running the program. How can I fix this problem?

My PC: HP ENVY13 with 16GB RAM and Core i5 2.4GHZ. Windows 10 64BIT.

Presumably "failed to initialize script host" means VMS was unable to display the message and would appear to be a Windows problem.
