Problems with print to tape

I recently changed from a computer running Windows Me, with a 1 GHz AMD Athlon processor, to one with a 1600+ Athlon processor running Windows XP. I had used the WinME machine for running VideoFactory 2.0c, and had no problems using the print to tape facility with my JVC digitial video camera model GR-DVM70. The camera was connected though a Western Digital model WDAD002 firewire card. I installed VideoFactory on my new WinXP machine and installed the same fire-wire card. When I use Sonic Foundry Video Capture, I have no problem with capturing video. However, when I choose the "Print to Tape" option, the only thing that works is the "cue device" facility. If I try to preview the AVI video file on my video camera, It behaves erratically, and the screen is a jumble of short (1-2 second) sections from the video, interspersed with blank (blue)screens, squiggly lines, and other fragmentary video. The audio is also fragmented. If I try the "Record to Device" button, I get the same results on the camera's screen, and no video is recorded. Can anyone give me some advice?

Stand back footloose. You should be seeing a lot of response, since I just went through a PTT problem on this forem and got great input. Are you sure your rendered AVI file is ok? Grob

Grob, I'm pretty sure that the rendered AVI file is OK. I get the same problem with PTT if I try to record an AVI file that I rendered and successfully printed to tape on my old computer using Windows ME. I also have the problem if I try to print to tape an AVI clip that was downloaded from the camera using video capture. I did look at the response to your PPT problems, but my problem appears to be different.

Grob, I would tend to concur with Footloose - Our PTT problems, vis-a-vis the fan/s issues on the Dell Inspiron 8ks, I hope are not footlose's issues - Sorry.

I was able to solve my print-to-tape problem by taking the AGP video card out of my old (WinMe) machine and installing it in my WinXP machine. For those of you who may be interested, the AGP card is an NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64 card. The machine had come with video on the motherboard, which is an Elitegroup Computer Systems L7VMM Rev 1.0. After installing the card and downloading a Windows XP driver for it, print-to-tape ran perfectly.
