problems with printing to tape

when i print to tape now it seems to suck up all my memory. i used to be able to play video games while i printed to tape, cause it didnt seem to tax my system much (unlike capturing). now when i print to tape i always get a stutter and if i try to use my comp while its printing my comp is very slow. i used to play d2 while i printed to tape and my total mem usage was like 380, now its 511 (out of 512) and cant play game and the tape doesnt come out right.
i recently updated a motherboard agp driver, ide driver, and audigy driver. would any of these things make my comp suddenly use a ton of memory when i print to tape?
or is it just time for a fdisk?
anyone have this happen before?

thanks

Upgrading drives can sometime fix things, and sometimes break things. If you have a restore option, I would restore to before the upgrades, and then upgrade one and a time, checking the playback each time and see which one is the culprit.
